We learned lot about Analysis today. We can NEVER have too much data. Of course we may not use it all, but if we don't have any data, we have no where to start from! There is a lot of data available for teachers, and a lot of it is online! I am not exactly sure how to access all of it, but that will come with time and effort.
I have started to think about how I will incorporate the Social Studies, Science and other Core Curriculum components into my lessons, and I thing something is beginning to take shape. I am not sure how I am going to incorporate Chemistry into Spanish, but I have some ideas. Maybe F to C temperature changes in different countries at different times bases on seasons and the earth's rotation? I will be working on find the information from USOE in these areas, but it still worries me a little.
I have been thinking about what types of surveys I could use with my kids. I have never really thought using anything but an exit survey because I usually gather data through the mastery tests that I give out to find out what they know from the previous years, or from informal types of assessments that I do when I converse with the students in my classes.
( what follows is from the previous posting. It was a summary of notes since the web page did not seem to save my previous drafts!)
DISCUSSION ON ANALYSIS
subject matter is the heart, non subject matter is the soulTHERE ARE SEVERAL COMPONENTS:
LEARNING GOALS
NEEDS ANALYSIS
LEARNER ANALYSIS
DEMOGRAPHICS
TASK ANALYSIS
We must use COMPONENTS OF
LANGUAGE ARTS
SOCIAL SCIENCES
MATH
We must also consider the CONTEXT OF INSTRUCTION
We made power points in 10 minutes about ourselves. I felt like Spock trying to run the Romulon ship since I was working on a Mac!
We made PBJ sandwiches to illustrate the fact that we need to be able to think about how our students think interpret and learn!
This is my 3rd try as posting to the blog. I hope it works!
